Skream - Epic Last Song (Tempa)
Skream’s new album is kind of a funny one - for a man known for gamechanging, futureleaning and groundbreaking stuff, this album is none of those things. It is, however, really really good. It has a ridiculous crossover potential with some actually-pretty-not-bad vocal tracks featuring Freckles, Murs and an unusually relaxed, restrained cut from La Roux - something that I think is easily her best work to date.
The song I’m linking to is Epic Last Song, partly because it follows on nicely from the Cloak and Dagger track I just linked to, and partly because it’s ridiculous, with it’s huge dnb-styled drum breaks, and wide major tones, recalling some of the more uplifting stuff from recent Chemical Brothers history. Get into it before it crosses over.
